3M Canada - Product Development Engineer Intern

3M is seeking a Product Development Intern for its R&D Lab team, located in Brockville, ON. Intern is intended to start in January 2025.

*Successful security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration program is a mandatory pre-requirement for this position at this location. Please note the following are some (but not all) of the listed requirements for Controlled Goods Clearance:

    Must be a Canadian citizen normally residing in Canada, or must be a Permanent Resident normally residing in Canada

The successful candidate will support and collaborate with a variety of project teams throughout the term, making an impact by assembling respirator cartridge prototypes, testing these prototypes and analyzing the resultant data. This is a 8, 12 or 16-month internship, ideal for a student in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. This position requires the successful candidate to be onsite, full time.

As a Product Development Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

    Working with colleagues to execute experiments to improve the performance of respiratory protecting filters and cartridges
    Preparing raw materials and sub-components for prototypes
    Assembling respirator cartridge prototypes
    Analyzing properties of respirator cartridge prototypes via various standard test methods and propose the next round of experiments
    Supporting scale-up experiments in a manufacturing environment
    Documenting experimental findings
    Presenting progress updates at team meetings
    Recommending process and prototype design improvements

Your skills and expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from Day 1, 3M requires (at minimum) the following qualifications:

    Enrollment in Engineering undergraduate degree program and formalized post-secondary internship program
    Ability to successfully pass Controlled Goods screening (MUST be at minimum Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident ordinarily residing in Canada)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

    Self-starter with the ability to flex with changing team priorities
    Experience with data management, maintaining records, etc.
    Intermediate experience with MS Office
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required as this role will involve collaboration with a diverse group of global colleagues.
    The successful candidate must be capable of working closely with both laboratory and manufacturing colleagues to ensure successful commercialization of developed products and implementation of required changes.
    Previous experience in an R&D environment using Scrum/Agile techniques is an asset
    Experience using Minitab for data analysis

Dana - Mechanical Design Intern
Boucherville, Qc - Winter 2026 (4 or 8 months)

Position Overview: 
 
The Test Bench Group Internship runs from early September until the end of December and gives engineering students an opportunity to complete real work tasks in electrical motors validation and verification laboratory. 

Essential Duties
 
Design with support from experience designers set up instructions and work orders for execution by the laboratory operators, 

Design new tooling for use in the Test Lab. 

Complete tests for fixturing validation. 

The intern will work full time during the fall months with the option of working part time during the fall and spring semesters.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Exploring user & business needs through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers

  • Answering critical user and business questions using TD's Innovation Framework, which incorporates Business Design/Design Thinking and Agile methodologies

  • Conducting user research and interviews to help understand customer problems

  • Developing storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas

  • Executing UX and visual design requirements as part of a team

  • Working closely with product owners and pod members to bring a solution to life

 

You will receive one-on-one mentorship with the Enterprise Innovation and TD Lab’s user experience designers and have the chance to work on multiple projects throughout the term. IBM - UX Designer Intern
Markham - Jan 2026 or Sept 2026 (8 months)

This position resides in Markham, ON and is a 8 month work term commencing in January 2026 and/or September 2026. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work-term. 

As a UX Designer, you will be learning and applying skills for designing, & developing web & graphical user interfaces and creating their media, with the aim of increasing users and engagement across several platforms.

You will work with various graphic design and web development tools and technologies. You will create mockups, layouts, icons, tiles, etc. for websites, applications, and social media campaigns.

Montreal or Toronto - Jan 2026 (4 Months)

We are looking for a UX Designer  for our growing team! 

 

What you’ll do here:  

  • Design and maintain the company's Design System, including UI components, style libraries, templates and guidelines.  

  • Collaborate with product and development teams to ensure consistent implementation of designs.  

  • Collect and analyze user and stakeholder needs to inform and improve the Design System. 

  • Perform user testing and UX research to validate concepts and design iterations.  

  • Document Design System processes, standards and best practices to ensure clarity and consistency.  

  • Help train and guide internal teams on the use of the Design System.  

  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices in UX/UI design and systems design. 

 

What you bring to the table:  

  • Bachelor's degree in UX design,

  • Portfolio demonstrating good knowledge of UX and UI design.

  • Proficiency in design and prototype tools (Figma, Adobe, etc.)

  • Knowledge of responsive design principles and accessibility

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Adaptability, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning

  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for technology

  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility

  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating quality user experiences

  • Bilingualism (French and English) - Necessary to interact regularly with colleagues across the country

  • Available for 35 hours per week from January 5 to April 24

  • Must return to studies in the Fall semester after your internship
